the recipe for preparing very good kumkum.......

Ingredients required
----------------------------

Good quality gundu manjal   ---   1 kg
vengaram  -  200 gms
padikaram - 100 gms
lime - 50-60

vengaram and padikaram can be got from naattu marundu kadai. The above ratio is for 1 kg of manjal.

Method of preparation
-------------------------------

Manjal should be broken down into small pieces ( machinela). Vengaram and padikaram can be powedered in the mixie itself. Take a clay vessel or clay pot. Squeeze the juice of the lime, throw the seeds.
dont add water. To this lime juice extract, add the broken manjal, powdered vengaram and padikaram and mix well. Keep it asided for 3 days. Every morning mix thoroughly.After three days, dry it out in a thambalam for about a week. It will be complately dry.Then powder it in the machine again.Kumkum is ready.
